Voices
The voices
heard, subheard;
heard and subheard;
heard or subheard
inform our daily actions and interactions.
The sounds
known, unknown;
known and unknown;
known or unknown
guide our intentions and choices.
The tone, texture and volume
quiet, loud;
quiet and loud;
quiet or loud
all have a voice in our inner chorus.
Many clambering —
some are loud, vocal and obnoxious
some are quiet, calm and amicable
some interrupt, aggravate and disturb
some are patient, persuasive and wise.
They all weigh in, no matter the volume.
They all vote despite their suppression or campaigning
(with varying degrees of equality).
They all have a hand on the teller that navigates our course.
They all speak, at once, before decisions are made.
They all vote on how we dictate our terms.
They all travel with us when we journey.
They all come along for the ride
whether they like it or not
whether we like it or not.
We house and host
these articulate and (co-?/inter-?/in-?)dependent
spirit personified energies —
This is our cacophonous existence — :
voices of desire and want
spirits of sex and passion
ghosts of memory and recollection
digital markings from technology and advertisements
imprints from class and culture
blueprints from DNA and nurture
shadows of trauma and triumph
markings of friend and foe
scars from interaction and relationship
thoughts of principle and morals
feelings of fear and confidence
sensations of anxiety and excitement.
——
So crowded, this unruly mob of we,
we/it can only function as a unit.
We are disguised as one homogeny,
walking and talking and wakingwith others inner others.
We party and mingle, commingle and contort
with other blobs, masses, consortiums and posies
of multi-dimensional consciousness.
These free form players
are our twirling partners
in our free will dance with destiny.
